Description
|
Bihar, one of the poorest states in India, has also one
of richest cultural heritage. Gaya, one of the districts
of Bihar, where Lord Buddha achieved his enlightenment,
has a community of craftsmen that make their living by
making stoneware pottery. The typical stone used is
found locally, is granite like hard, and looks soft like
marble. These stoneware pottery are made in different
shapes like fruit tray, soup bowls, ash tray etc. It is
amazing how a craft that has been handed down through
generations since ancient times, finds its place in
modern homes.
