Designer Grass Yoga Mats, Exercise Mats

Designer Grass Yoga Mats, Exercise Mats. The chattai or grass mat is an indispensable part of an Indian household. India produces coir mats with improvised uses of coir, to even make mattresses. The mats have a fine upper layer and a coarse bottom one, and are stitched at the edges. Rolled and made to stand upright in a corner, when not in use, the chattai is used as an instant sitting space. Madder grass is collected, immersed in water and woven Mats into mats in its natural red colour, in Bengal and Assam. Two ply mats are the speciality of Kerala. The kora grass rush mats of South India, are very famous. In Tamil Nadu, kora grass is used to make exceptionally fine mats. Uttar Pradesh specializes in prayer mats, commonly known as the janamaz durries.Jaipur had strong ties with the Mughal court, and was perhaps the first of the Rajput principalities to set up royal weaving ateliers. Here began the carpet weaving for which Jaipur is now famous. The artists brought with them a rich heritage of designs and colours.

Carpet weaving remained a family occupation, on the same caste lines as other forms of economic activity at the time. The Jaipur palaces also housed some of the world’s finest Persian and Mughal carpets, providing further models for the craftsmen. Although the weaving of pile carpets was introduced in India only in the Mughal period, it soon took root and became part of the Indian heritage. Carpets became so indispensable that they were even woven in special shapes and sizes for the royal tents. One such carpet, of irregular shape, is on display at the City Palace Museum in Jaipur. The weave (3,60,000 knots per square metre) indicates that it was made to withstand rough use. Palace records reveal that it was bought in Lahore in 1656 by Maharaja Mirza Raja Jai Singh I.
Floral designs remain very popular in Rajasthani carpets, as do animal and bird motifs. The favorite colors are pink, maroon, yellow, green, blue, ivory and turquoise. Although Jaipur and Bikaner are the traditional centres of carpet weving in Rajasthan, the art has recently take root in Sikar, Tonk, Barmar, and Churu.

Our Customers' Feedback:-

  • "Great seller! Perfect shipping, very fast. Arrived before estimate. Thankyou!"

  • Item came in a timely manner. Appears to be well made, but was dusty on the edges. Appreciate the time you took to package nicely and the free shipping. Other yoga mats shown in Amazon looked great too, but pricing for many beyond my range of affordabilty (almost $100.00). If durable for yoga, etc., perhaps the price is justified. We'll see. Thanks again."

  • "A pleasant surprise! Ordered on a Tuesday and received on Friday of the same week, with regular shipping, from India to Massachusetts. A beautiful tablecloth with napkins. One note, though, is that the product description did not say how many napkins there would be. There were 8, which was great, but the description should be more specific."

  • "Amazingly quick in arriving! I ordered a twin sheet and am using it as a tablecloth. Just beautiful!"

  • "Fast, fast service. Item (tablecloth) is very beautiful. I will buy from this merchant again.""Yearly Birthday gift from son and hubby with no shipping Entrance-Door decoration. GREAT."

  • "You should have also given me the tracking no. of DHL shipping service or website of that united world service. I couldn't figure out when my package was ready to deliver. Next time probably you would like to consider these things to raise more your standard of customer service. Rest of your service was very good, and the shirt was also very good. Thanks"

  • "Incredibly fast shipping! I place orders that ship from India all the time and I think that this was the fastest I've ever received a package and what's even better is that the items were even more beautiful and detailed than I expected (the picture doesn't do them the justice they deserve)! I will definitely be a returning customer! "
