Ladies Vests in handloom cotton fabric with beautiful
embroidery is meant to give you more youthful and vibrant appearance.
Suitable for wearing in mild weather, these Ladies Vests are favorite
casual apparel for women. Above women’s vests are made by Rabari
tribe living in the Kutch region of the state of Gujarat. Embroidery
skills are passed on from generations to generation and even today
embroidery work is considered main asset of a Rabari family. The
extent of value attached to embroidery can be understood from the
fact that they form one of the main items of dowry when a Rabari
bride goes to live with the family of the groom. Rabari vests very
often have small mirrors embroidered, which gives not only added
beauty, but also supposedly wards off evil. Hand-block printing is
done in motives that closely resemble those practiced in Rajasthan.
Unlike quilted vests of Rajasthan, Rabari embroidered vests are one
sided only. There is an inner lining of coarse cotton fabric. In
India they are more popular with urban young women. They go very well
not only with modern casual clothes like jeans trousers or skirts,
but also with more traditional Indian clothes like Salwar Kameez. To
modern clothes these vests add a touch of traditional, while to
traditional clothes they help add touch of modernity.
